Ruben Amorim is looking to completely remodel the Manchester United squad in a bid to restore the club to its former place at the top of world football.
In the latter stages of the Erik ten Hag era, United experienced their worst results in the Premier League and Europe ever.
With only one win in 11 European games, United had their longest winless streak and falling to 14th saw the club have their worst start to a Premier League campaign.
Now, Amorim is at the helm with the challenge of converting the squad to fit into his 3-4-3 system, which the squad was not recruited for.
As such, Amorim is anticipating that the club will take six transfer windows to assemble his ideal starting line-up, however the lack of transfer funds makes that objective even more difficult.
Going into the January transfer window, Amorim and the United recruitment team had a strategy in mind to recruit a striker, a left-wing-back and a seasoned centre-back to join the back three.
However, the recent resurgence of Harry Maguire has now turned this on its head.

Ruben Amorim’s revised transfer plans thanks to Harry Maguire
The Daily Mail has reported that Harry Maguire’s recent return to form has completely changed United’s plans for a centre-back this January.
Maguire’s recent resurgence has granted the England international a contract extension and a regular starting spot in Amorim’s squad.
This move is a stark contrast to the status of “priority January sale” which previously sat with the star, looking to sell the defender to pull in another big-name signing.
However, now the club are looking for another younger centre-back with impressive potential, much like Leny Yoro, prioritising other positions, like the left-wing-back role.
Previous reports of continued links to stars like Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, who would cost around £70 million, now are likely to die down, with the club able to rely on their veteran defender once more.
