Manchester United might have just inadvertently experienced a massive blow to their plans of offloading Marcus Rashford.
Since mid-December, it’s been really clear that Rashford will be leaving Old Trafford after his announcement of wanting a “new challenge”.
With top European clubs like Barcelona, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan all interested, Rashford is spoilt for choice.
However, front-runners AC Milan may now have to back away from the deal due to some of their other transfer business falling through.
The Italian side were negotiating with RB Leipzig to see Noah Okafor more to the German club. However, the deal has now fallen through according to Sky Sports.
It’s reported that the deal collapsed due to a failed medical check, showing that Okafor “is not an immediate help”. As such the 24-year-old isn’t ready to step into the squad as they initially hoped.
Leipzig have now cancelled the transfer, which could have a knock-on to Milan’s pursuit of Rashford.

The impact of Noah Okafor remaining at AC Milan for Marcus Rashford
It was expected that the deal for Okafor would generate space in the squad, about capacity and room in the salary budget.
The club were already concerned about Rashford’s extreme salary, being over double their current highest earner.
Alvaro Morata is currently on £150,000 per week, with Rashford significantly higher on £325,000 per week.
As such the Serie A side were looking to United to contribute a considerable amount of Rashford’s wage if a loan deal was agreed.
Now, as often happens in the transfer windows, this failed deal could see a chain of opportunities fall through. Milan could now struggle further for space and finances to seal the Rashford deal, impacting United’s finances and capacity to make any new signing.
