Manchester United winger Antony has taken legal action against his former club Ajax.

The Brazilian reportedly missed training sessions and Ajax’s third league match of the season while pushing for his transfer to United.

The Red Devils eventually agreed to an £85.5 million fee for his services.

Alfred Schreuder, then Ajax manager, told ESPN in August 2022: “I only want players who are fully focused on Ajax.

We have talked about it, and I think it is a difficult situation.”

Daily Mail report that Antony has accused Ajax of “unlawfully” fining him before his move to Old Trafford in 2022.

The winger claims Ajax docked money from his wages after his transfer was completed.

According to Dutch newspaper AD, the winger says the fines amount to “a few hundred thousand euros.”

A source close to the case confirmed the amount docked was significant.

The arbitration committee of the Dutch football association is overseeing the case.

The hearing began Monday in Zeist, near Utrecht.

Antony turned to the arbitration committee six months ago.

Decisions in similar cases are usually made within a month of the hearing.

Since joining the Red Devils, Antony has struggled to meet expectations.

The Brazilian scored on his debut in a 3-1 win over Arsenal.

However, he has only managed 11 more goals in all competitions across three seasons.

His sole goal this season came in a 7-0 Carabao Cup win against Barnsley.

Antony quickly fell out of favour under Erik ten Hag.

He has yet to convince new boss Ruben Amorim of his value to the squad.

The forward has been linked with a move away from United this January.

The expectation compared to reality for the Brazilian since departing Ajax has been quite a stark contrast.
