Manchester United are set for a crucial January transfer window, with the club currently experiencing their worst Premier League season to date.

Sat in 13th after a draw to Liverpool at Anfield, Ruben Amorim is now looking to launch an attack and fight back up the league table.

However, any movement in the transfer window will need to start with sales. INEOS’ leadership have withheld any transfer funds this January, with United having spent £600 million on transfers under Erik ten Hag.

As such, sales are vital to kick-start United’s funds, with several stars looking likely to depart in the coming weeks.

Players like Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford are being considered in player-swap deals for Dusan Vlahovic and Victor Osimhen.

Elsewhere, Real Betis and Olympiacos look to fight it out for a loan for Antony, whilst fellow Brazilian Casemiro looks likely to be headed to Saudi Arabia.

However, now Amorim has spoken out, confirming his focus for the month.

Ruben Amorim discusses his January plans

The Express has reported that whilst Amorim is aiming to make movements in the transfer market, his key focus is remaining on training.

Discussing the importance of January, with fewer matches and the transfer window open, Amorim commented: “When the window is open, we can try to do something, and we will try to do something.”

He continued: “But I think, in the next weeks, we are going to have more time to train, and we can improve; that’s the only way.

“We had a lot of games without training; now we will have more space to grow. You can see that the context is worse at this moment, as we had a lot of losses, so we have to manage everything.”

When asked for clarification on what roles he was hoping to recruit to, Amorim commented: “I will keep that to myself. But we’ll try to do something.”
