Manchester United have set their sights on Napoli’s unwanted man, Victor Osimhen as they look to bring a clinical striker to Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim currently has Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as his only natural options up top. Hojlund boasts seven goals and an assist in 23 games whilst Zirkzee trails behind with four goals and two assists in 28 games.
Naturally, these aren’t great stats or first choice strikers. However, Osimhen overshadows the duo combined with 13 goals and five assists in only 16 games.
The Nigerian striker is currently on loan to Galatasaray, with the Turkish side benefiting from his form. Napoli manager Antonio Conte does not see the striker in his long term plans with the Serie A side, his loan away from the squad.
Despite being on loan, Osimhen has a £62 million release clause to return to Napoli this month if a permanent deal could be arranged.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen
Manchester United have been reported as considering capitalising on Conte’s interest in Red Devil wantaway Marcus Rashford. United are reportedly looking to offer a player-swap deal to see the strikers change hands this month.
Recently the striker’s team has also confirmed the links, commenting: Victor will move, he may wear the red colours in England, there are moves already and it is what he want.”
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given United a massive boost through an update on Osimhen’s potential movement this month.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano commented: “In terms of chance to move, it’s possible. But at the moment nothing is advanced or close with any club despite the links around. It’s still early for this one.”
Whilst this confirms that United are not close to confirming a deal, it does give the club hope.
Victor Osimhen would boast a huge upgrade in terms of goal contributions, giving Amorim a sturdy option in front of goal.
