Manchester United fans are still celebrating their dramatic 2-1 derby victory over Manchester City, with Portugal international Rafael Leao also impressed.
There were joyous scenes at the Etihad as United secured their first away win at City since 2021, when fans couldn’t attend due to the pandemic.
This victory was special, especially after United conceded 13 goals in their last three league visits to City.
Players were thrilled to once again declare “Manchester is Red” after winning in City’s backyard.
For Harry Maguire, the win was particularly meaningful after missing May’s FA Cup Final victory over City through injury.
He was captain the last time United won at The Etihad, when Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty following a foul on Anthony Martial.

This time, Fernandes delivered again, scoring from the spot after Amad Diallo was brought down in the box.
It was his sixth goal of the season, showing immense composure in the 88th minute to send Ederson the wrong way.
Fernandes celebrated on Instagram, writing: “A good end to a good week. Thanks for your support as always reds.”
AC Milan winger Rafael Leao congratulated Fernandes, replying: “Well doneeeee broski.”
Fernandes also received praise on his Instagram post from former United teammates in Anthony Elanga and Alex Telles.

Fernandes and Leao are teammates for Portugal, while former United star Nani also ‘liked’ the post.
