Bruno Fernandes is used to saving the day for Manchester United on the pitch with his goal contributions, however he’s now come to the rescue off the pitch whilst on a flight to Portugal.

United’s captain was on route to Lisbon with fellow Red Devil Diogo Dalot, with both called up for international duty.

While new manager Ruben Amorim flew to Manchester to get settled in his new role, his captain was headed the other way to Lisbon for the international break.

Portugal are set to face Poland and Croatia in the next round of UEFA Nations League fixtures, with Portugal at the top of Group 1 in League A.

However, the drama of the international break had already started for Fernandes before he’d even touched the ground in Portugal.

While on route, The Daily Mail have reported that Fernandes noticed a man at the back of the plan who appeared to be passing out.

Immediately the midfielder called for support, shouting: “Excuse me! We need help! Excuse me! We need help!”

Speaking of the events after the flight to Business Cloud, passenger Susanna Lawson commented: “Bruno [Fernandes] went to the loo at the back of the plane during the flight.”

She continued: “(We) suddenly heard a shout for assistance which those within hearing distance looked back, including us as we were toward the back.

“Members of the crew rushed to the back to help. There was a spare seat at the back which Bruno helped the gentleman to sit down on.

“He stayed at the back with them and made sure he was OK.

“It might have been about 5-10 minutes and then he made his way back to his seat but again very unassuming. He wasn’t looking for any attention on himself.”

Speaking about Fernandes, Lawson also praised his manner with fans, saying: “When I asked him politely for a selfie as we were leaving the plane he was absolutely lovely and actually took the selfie himself.”

Whilst the midfielder was trying to keep a low profile on the flight, he’s being praised for springing to actions to help his fellow passenger.
